Dr Russell Downham is a psychologist specialising in evidence-based cognitive-behavioural interventions for adults struggling to cope with the effects of chronic pain and associated psychological distress including anxiety and depression.
He employs a flexible, responsive approach, working together with individuals and groups to identify and overcome unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour, to make significant positive life changes. Russell aims to help individuals to increase their independence and develop skills in more effectively managing their pain while coming to terms with their adjusted capabilities and focusing on realistic, meaningful improvements.
Russell draws on clinical experience gained in a variety of settings. Before acquiring a Masters of Clinical Psychology, he completed a PhD in Philosophy. He is passionate about helping people to uncover the personal strengths and values that empower and motivate them to make the changes they need in their lives.
